The Western Sydney Symphony Orchestra (WSSO) is a non-profit, independent symphony orchestra based in Western Sydney, Australia.
Led by Artistic Director Dr Brian Chatpo Koo and managed by the Sydney Contemporary Orchestra Inc. (SCO) Management Committee, the orchestra comprises outstanding professional musicians from SCO, alongside highly trained local freelance musicians.
The WSSO presents a season of classical music concerts throughout the year, delivering engaging performances that celebrate both well-loved repertoire and new works by Australian composers. Through these performances, the orchestra fosters a vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive community for lovers of classical and symphonic music.
Based in Western Sydney and the Hills Shire region, and proudly supported by The Hills Shire Council, the Western Sydney Symphony Orchestra also provides valuable development opportunities for young local musicians. These opportunities are delivered through educational initiatives and symphonic training as part of the Youth Orchestra Training Program, nurturing the next generation of orchestral performers.
The Western Sydney Symphony Orchestra is a sub-organisation of the Sydney Contemporary Orchestra (SCO). The Sydney Contemporary Orchestra is registered as a non-profit musical organisation by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
